Tidypics Wishlist

Mentioned so far:

  1. Better uploading
  2. Lightbox
  3. Tagging like Facebook
  4. Better/configurable activty pushes with photos

  • Small thing, if possible. On the comment "save" button, change it to say "save comment". I've noticed a lot of people are saving blank comments. Might be good practice to do that to all the different "save" buttons.

  • Would be nice to have a SLIDESHOW option, to play the current album (with a full screen toggle)

Even better if you could optionally play an mp3 with the slideshow.

  • Would love to see the ability to add ratings to photos.

For example, let the administrator create multiple options to rate, such as:
     - composition
     - lighting
     - subject matter
     - etc

Would love to also see pages that show the highest rated photos in each category.

Does TidyPics accept patches from other programmers, I'd be willing to take a look at doing some of this work myself if necessary.

  • @gfroese - there is a google code project. Contributions can be made by submitting patches/code through the issues list: http://code.google.com/p/tidypics/issues/list

  • I found some old pages through google cache while elgg.org was down about the filesize limit for uploading pictures due to an inability to create thumbnails.

    Is this still an issue?

My site tells me I can upload files up to 10MB, but anything bigger than about 1MB doesn't work.

  • Toggling Download button on/off (If enabled by admin the users could toggle this on and off too, if they want thei're picture shared for downloading)

Rating (should be optional for every user if admin enables this feature)

  • @gfroese - The limitation is due to the php configuration on a server so everyone will see a different limit. There is no way to fix this with TidyPics. We hope to do a better job communicating the limit to the admin and suggesting ways to increase it and do a better job catching when that limit is exceeded by a user.

  • @Simox - I have to agree with you on that, not sure why this option was overlooked when image handling was developed in the core.  I mentioned the same thing above..

  • @simox - I am able to upload a 5.9MB file with no problems, and confirm the file is there in my data folder.  The problem is that there are no thumbnails and the picture doesn't show up in the album.

If I click on Download Image then I get my original 5.9MB image.

  • a stack album in embed / upload media !

permit to chose file into albums when editing an article
