Display tools in a box on the dashboard?

Hello
I was wondering if there was any way to display the items in the tools menu in a box on the dashboard, e.g. under the "New Wire Post" box when using the river dashboard?
The reason I ask is I think this would be more intuitive for users instead of having to go to the "Tools" menu every time they wanted to do something.
Is this possible?

u mean bookmarks, friends, etc....? weell by now.. u outghta know.. one can do almost anything with Elgg ;-O
Yeah, I was just wondering if someone had done it before and can copy and paste a bit of code. :)
You will be happy to know I'm currently learning the Elgg framework (I'm a developer turned automation engineer) so in a few weeks I should be able to look after myself (and will of course make my plugins available to the community) but until then I'll probably have a few more questions!
