No admin user created
I have been experiencing a lot of trouble installing Elgg 1.6.1. I need to use this particular version due to compatibility to a plugin. The whole installation procedure runs pretty well and then it shows the opening screen for elgg. The screen is empty except for the login fields on the left side and a "register" link. So, I click the register link as I have understood that the first user registered to Elgg is the admin. However, when I do so and I click the acceptance mail I get, I have a user, but no admin. How do I get an admin login? I have been doing this installation three times now and I am getting mildly frustrated by it now.

You must log in to post replies.This is a 1.6 bug related to the "Submit anonymous statistics" option. If you disable this during installation, you should be prompted to create your first admin user. Note that you will need to empty the database before trying a reinstall.
Ok, I have switched off the "submit anonymous statistics" option and then I got prompted to register an admin user. I registered, got he mail and confirmed. However, when I log on the user does not seem to be an admin. How come? And how can I change this?
By the way, after I have concluded the initial registration of the admin user, I get a clean white page. Even with error messages switched on it still is white

The same problem. It started after I've tried to install another elgg distr to my site. First I have installed elgg 1.7.1, but after conflict with the theme I chose, I decided to install elgg 1.6.2 to another directory. I created another MySQL DB.
When I have visited my new site, I saw the start page from previous site (why? the folders and DB were absolutely different)... When I have delete the first site, the second became a "white page". And so on after dozens of reinstall!
I feel that the problem is silly, but I can't find out what to do. Please help.
The answer is simple - don't make the same "upload" folder for different elgg installations.
Now everything's fine.
