I think starting with Elgg 1.7 there is a add bookmark link. Before that you need to use the bookmarklet.

I have enabled the bookmarklet. It works with IE and Firefox.
I try to save a bookmark for a group but no matter what I do, the bookmark belong to the user but not a group.
