You must log in to post replies.yes that can be done if the elgg code for this has been done correctly.. whether by group owner or by admin..
This requires a plugin. Standard Elgg does not provide this feature.
Hmm. Can't remove a person from a group? Why not? I mean don't people move from one dept. to another (but not leave the group, so an admin needs to clean up), switch to an opposing sports team, become catholic, become protestant, etc. Just like you can un-friend somebody that turns out to be not so friendly, a group owner should be able to un-group somebody.
Seems like this feature should be in the core.
Elgg has a user-centric model. In this case, the user needs to decide to leave the group.
In any case, this is easy enough to add in a plugin.
Why not code it or fund a developer to code it if it is something you need?
That's what open source is all about.
Ok, I'm going to do it. Now, what's a plugin? Ok, now I'm past that.
I'm thinking that a modified groups plugin with a menu for the avatars of the group members, that shows up only if you are the group owner, that would have a single "Remove member" item (just like the menu in the profile plugin for "Remove friend")...
Is there a better way? A way to hook into the existing groups plugin and only add this functionality?
Ah then even better if it has already been done!
Thanks H. that does the job nicely.
