Hi, i'm trying to put together a site to be resource for bands/musicians in my area, listing music shops, venues and other things in the area.
Elgg seems pretty cool so far (have been playing for a few days now) but i wanted to know if there is a way to add user types similar to myspace where they have band accounts, personal accounts and film accounts. as i would want shop accounts, venue accounts, promoter accounts, etc.
Any tips at all would be great
Btw, i'm not good with php or anything, i'm a musician who thinks this kinda thing would be really helpful, so i'm trying to do it...

You must log in to post replies.(but i'm not a complete idiot either, i can handle basic stuff, but i am by no means a web developer)
google "creating elgg user types" ;-)
I have had a look. and can't find anything that makes sense to me, sorry :P
if you know of a site that has the information is there any chance of a direct link? i found a post about someone trying to do something similar, but couldn't find anything on how to actually achieve it.
ok.. what you want **exactly has been asked before here and/or google elgg groups...
it can be done eother by "hacking" into the code or creating a plugin to do that- either way -- wil nedd some Elgg-know-how and usually somewaht decent php acumen..
Thanks,
php i was trying to learn, but i really don't have time to do it,i'm a sound engineer and musician, so that's a no go. and i only found elgg a few days ago, so i'm not that sure on how it works.
oh well, i'll leave this open, hopefully someone else who had the same requirement that made a plug-in would be so kind as to share it with me.
Thanks anyway.
just read through that.
doesn't seem to reach a conclusion on what you need to do to achieve the desired result.
I have however found Kevin Jardines forms plug-ins, and am going to test to see if they can give me what i want...
kewl - i haven't looked at using Kevin's so cannot say, but from what i hear - might be just what works for you... ;-O
@Chrisbassist,
Have you made any progress on this?
