Problem with norwegian characters in e-mails

Hi,
I am getting strange chars for the norwegian characters æ, ø and å in our e-mais.
Ref. "Klikk p� linken for � aktivere/verifisere kontoen din:"
Can I change the char-set for the e-mails somewhere and this will fix it...?

I've run into the same problem with Finnish translations if the translation files we're not saved using UTF8 encoding. I converted the language files to UTF8 and everything worked just fine after that. This might help with the Norwegian files as well.
The main language file is ELGG/languages/no.php and most of the plugins have their own language files in ELGG/mod/PLUGINNAME/languages/no.php

how i convert the linguage files for Utf8?
I use Eclipse but I bet there must be a dozen simple tools just for encoding conversion. Eclipse is a bit overkill just for this :)
