Hi, i am from Brazil and i translating my elgg 1.7 from portuguese, but i have problems in charset=utf-8, if i put one a word with accent, such as (é), the system displays a symbol in place of the word "é", how i change thecharset=utf-8 for ISO-8859-1 in elgg system?

use é it should work.
I don't thing it's a good idea to change the app's encoding. Instead you should check if your .pt files are in fact in UTF-8. You can check it by using a text editor like notepad++ (windows).
