How to change or delete spotlight?

Guys how do i change the word spotlight and the contain in it without changing the core? And how do i delete it?

then edit pageshell.php
just delete or # <?php echo elgg_view('page/element/spotlight',$vars);?>
the spotlight will be never seen !
you can use this plugin extinguish spotlight
