Newbie plugin question

Is it OK to upload a plugin that requires the end user to edit code within the plug and their elgg installation?

I have an iframe script that will allow people to embed outside applications/sites into elgg. It requires at least changing one variable (the website pointer) and making one change to the theme. If the user wishes to embed multiple apps, they will have to rename the folder, functions, and variables once for each additional application.

It is only a simply brute hack, but it does offer a poor man's solution for integration. Does this sound useful for broader consumption?
