Hi, I've noticed over the last couple of days here that while read speed is quite snappy, that posting a comment incurs huge time lags - like tens of seconds.
Is there something going on with the database that is slowing the ability to make posts here?
Just wondering,

@Brett
Please turn off this off lolz ;-)
The reponse time is agonizing when posting even 1 short sentence.
I guess this just needs one short tuple to be queued to somewhere, which can be then picked up by some cron'ed scripts that can send emails out in the bg.
i'll write the code if you like ;-) or simply help out with the code.
(1) notificn trigger --> queue 1 simple group post.
(2) cron - examine queue, find members, email members, unqueue activity.
Cash just sent me a plugin that moves notifications to the shutdown event. I've installed it on the community site and this is the first test message with it running. Let me know if there are any problems with the notifications! And be sure to thank Cash :)
Brett let me know there is still a delay. Very odd. I'm looking into it.
I really dumb question but what "version" are you running here?
@Cash : I'm looking how to improve titles in notifications through a new plugin that would override default titles and messages on notifications, and you mentionned in trac (http://trac.elgg.org/ticket/871 ) a plugin that moves notifications to the shutdown, and improves mail titles : could you give a bit more information on its use, or release the code ? ..that would be really helpful !
thanks
Just wondering if the fix has been ported to 1.7-1.8+? I feel like the problem might be present.
