has the new user account been validated?

I've got the uservalidationbyemail plugin disabled - is there some other validation step that I don't know about?

Hmmm I seem to remember that if that was disabled then new users could not get validated. Check out the plugin here on the site called site access by shellcode. That plugin will allow users to to be validated without email.

 I still haven't gotten down to the bottom of this problem either.  My md5 is functioning just fine.

If you delete that account and reregister does it let you log in?  If so, it might be the same problem I have.  Wish I could figure it out.

enabling the validate plugin worked - don't think it's related to any md5() issues.

I think that I face the same problem!

I disabled the e-mail notification plug-in for new users. Now, when the newcomer registers, elgg displays a pop-up that the process was a success but when he tries to enter the site, the login page just refreshes itself!

Also, when I enter the siet as an admin, the user doesn't get listed at all in order to delete/modify!
