The current Elgg community core and UI are outdated
Elgg community is still on Elgg 2.
This puts off many new visitors.
It reminds as if we stopped in 2012.
The community admins don't have enough time to update it (right?).
In this case, we could add required fields for any post e.g. Elgg's version.
Do you still need it?
I'm asking because there was an UI proposal and you turned it down.
Can I help you?

You must log in to post replies. We'd love to upgrade the community to the latest version. However like you said where do we get the time.
A lot of work needs to be done in order to update the community (lots of plugins). Also server side there need to be some updates (PHP, MySQL, search engine).
Because we keep putting it off, it becomes harder and harder to update. Once we're up to date keeping it up te date won't be such a big problem.
There is a lot of old content, honestly deleting until 2023 and giving new content to the community would be a good idea.
