I see the different versions of elgg but they seem out of order.

Is version 3 after 2.3.17? and do i need to upgrade to every version after until I get to 4.0?

What confuses me is on the site it goes from 2.3.14 to 3.0.6 uptp 3.2.4 then starts back at 2.3.15 and steps to 2.3.17 and goes to 4.0 beta1, beta2, beta3 then 4.0rc. I can't make sense of this. Can you explain what's going on here and how the versions are suppose to go? To prove I'm right to be confused, dell did something similar with the names of their laptops, where they seem out of order because higher numbers came before lower numbers so you would the 7400 came before the 7480 but it was the other way around. So yeahhh I'm all out of sort with tech companies lol.
