How to upgrade elgg from 1.8.4 to 3.3.15

Hi,
There has been many version since the actual application was developed. Now we need to upgrade to latest version. I see that upgrading version one by one take time. Is there any way to upgrade from version 1.8.4 to 3.3.15
I downloaded the version 3.3.15 and installed in my system. then I checked the folders in my app and latest version installation folder, many folder missing and found that many things are deprecated.
Any suggestion will be helpful.
