Elgg roadmap. The plans of development the 2.x branch and the better platform to start now

Please let me know the 2.x branch roadmap? Are there any plans to move it to UTF8mb4 charset like 3.x branch. For starting the new social group is it better to wait for 3.x release or start now from 2.3.10?
Any ideas welcome )

You must log in to post replies.Once 3.x is release 2.x will become LTS version and will only support security patches. Any new feature or development will happen in 3.x branch. Its better to wait for 3.x.
If there is an urgency then you can start with 2.3.10 and the best part about elgg is that it support version migration. So you can easily migrate your elgg 2.3.10 data/site to 3.0 once it is released.
