When one clicks the link in the Tools drop-down to enter the Vanilla Forum, the page takes a very, very long time to load. It does eventually load, but I'm talking about it taking up to 2 minutes. Same with posting a new thread, or comment to a thread.
I do not have this problem with any other link on the Tools drop-down menu, only the Vanilla Forum link.
Any ideas / suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I did upgrade from 1.1.7 to 1.1.8 (following these instructions: http://lussumo.com/docs/doku.php?id=vanilla:upgrading) and am still experiencing the same problem.
Any help on this would be most appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance,
Dr. W
In that case, I suggest that you revert to your previous situation as there is a good chance that you have created other problems by upgrading your Vanilla install.
OK - I have now reverted back to Vanilla version 1.1.7... there were only two files involved in the upgrade, so it was fairly simple.
The page load problem remains. I would be most grateful for any thoughts on this...
Thank you in advance,
Dr. W
Oh - I forgot to add - I entered the direct address to the index.php file in Vanilla (http://www.domain.com/elggfolder/mod/vanillaforum/vanilla/index.php) and the page still loaded extremely slowly.
If you copied 1.1.8 over 1.1.7 there is a good chance that it added files that should not be there or or over-wrote files. It may have also mucked with your database. I think that it might be smart to drop your Vanilla database and reinstall the plugin from scratch.
What you really want to know is:
Why is my Vanilla install so slow?
Unless someone answers this question, you are not likely to make much progress.
You *could* try installing Vanilla 1.1.17 (or 1.1.18 for that matter) in a separate folder (without the Elgg connection) and see if it is any faster.
Thanks!
I only replaced the two files mentioned in the upgrade instructions, didn't overwrite whole install, so no problem there.
It can't be my server settings, as I use vanilla forum on the same server in a different location with no problems.
I am baffled, so if anyone has any thoughts on this, I would be most grateful!
Ah, in that case I really have no idea as the plugin works fine for me with no speed issues.
I think you are going to have to find someone who has had similar issues with the plugin on their server and has discovered a fix.
There are also tools to monitor http activity and code performance, etc. But that is pretty difficult server administration stuff.
