When one clicks the link in the Tools drop-down to enter the Vanilla Forum, the page takes a very, very long time to load. It does eventually load, but I'm talking about it taking up to 2 minutes. Same with posting a new thread, or comment to a thread.
I do not have this problem with any other link on the Tools drop-down menu, only the Vanilla Forum link.
Any ideas / suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never seen that behaviour, so it appears to have something to do with your server configuration.
That doesn't mean that there isn't something in the plugin that couldn't be tweaked, but it is not a universal problem seen by everyone. It may also have to do with your Vanilla setup rather than your Elgg setup.
Can you tell us your OS/browser combination? Do any errors appear in your log?
Are the Vanilla tables on the same database server as Elgg? If so, are they in the same database?
Thanks - let's see... I'm viewing on Windows XP / Firefox.
The tables are in different databases on the same server. Should they be in the same db? I wasn't clear on that during setup, for some reason. Perhaps that's the issue?
No, they don't have to be in the same database. Probably better if they aren't.
Hmm... ok...
I will try tonight to disable all other mods & go one-by-one to see if there is an unknown conflict that might be slowing things down.
Otherwise, I am at a loss. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this.
Thanks for your assistance!
Nicole
Couldn't find a conflict, and am still experiencing extremely long page loads.
Will delete & re-install & let you know what happens.
Thx.
I have completely removed & reinstalled the Vanilla forum mod, followed all set up directions to a "t", and am still experiencing extremely slow page loads when clicking on the vanilla forum link on the tool bar drop-down menu, also with posting a new thread, or comment to a thread.
Any help on this would be most appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance,
Dr. W
As this appears to be a Vanilla forum problem specific to your server, I'm afraid I can't help.
Does anyone else with Vanilla forum experience have any suggestions?
@drweyant
Upgrade to vanilla 1.1.8
Ok - will try that now...
The Vanilla forum plugin already includes a (slightly modified) version of 1.1.17.
Upgrading to another version is possible but would take quite a bit of work.
Unless @CVA can help with that process and has a strong reason for believing that it would make a difference, I'm not sure that this is a good idea.
