Discussions plugin to pull metadata from sites

I'm looking for a forum plugin for my elgg site that has the ability to display a snippet preview of links from other sites, much like how slack and skype displays them. Does anyone know of a 1.9 compatible plugin that can do this?

Doesn't do exactly what you need but has the basic framework for how to do it. Add a custom class to the link you want to render, then call
in the javascript.
