Are there plugins to add html and rss feed widgets?
I think that those are the most important widgets anybody needs in their dashboards and profiles. Generic HTML to put anything and rss feed to get anything from any place easily. I have been looking for them in the plugin gallery, but could not find any of them. Any way to get them? In the classic Elgg 0.9 we had them: text and rss feed. Have we lost them? They are very important for everybody.

Generic HTML - can be huge security hole. It would be very easy to write one but you'd have to restrict what could be put in it
Thank you so much for the info. We will try the feed reader. Regarding the html widget, we already had a "text" widget for 0.9 that admited html, with limitations. For example, you had to use the {{ video }} tag to insert flash, and could not use the generic html. Perhaps we could have a similar one for 1.x. I just would add the html editor to make edition easier.
Mmm, I just see that... aren't we already using an html editor in the blogs and forums? ;-) I think that the security problem will be exactly the same as here. So... why not?
No, if you are using the htmlawed pluggin with the core, all the HTML entries will get stripped.
@jon pipitone I think it can be done with a plugin, overriding the dashboard, adding your HTML code. I have done that before with the profilepage, making modifications on /views/default/canvas/layouts/widgets.php/
have you tried the 'Doodle' plugin?
One of these is what your looking for. I don't know if they need any updating for 1.7 though.
