Uploading an image to be used to replace the silhouette that shows up

I think I'm gradually getting the hang of this now. but I still want to replace that silhouette with my own images. (can it be an animated gif?)

How do you do this?

go to edit profile then go to edit profile icon click it and up load your icon.
