Let me see if I finally have come to understand the purpose for the Twitter & The Wire widgets.
Originally, I had hoped to see others' (friends) postings displayed in my widgets on my Dashboard, but that doesn't seem to happen. So now I conclude these widgets are best applied to my own profile page, so if someone goes there they can see what I have posted. The same may be true for the blog extension. So, the purpose of those widgets is not to allow the owner to see others' postings, but to allow the owner to let others see his/her postings.
Or am I still confused?
Thanks.

You must log in to post replies. There is also the activity widget you might want to consider. if you set it to your friends activity then you will be able to see what they are doing
You are correct in that the wire is to tell other people what you are doing, twitter is the same but I think you can also edit these to show your friends instead of yourself
Someone correct me if I'm wrong
