Our Elgg 1.5 site, UnionBook, is being hit by a massive wave of spammers who are successfully registering and validating their accounts despite the fact that we've enabled the site access plugin which has a kind of numberic captcha built in.
I've just added a site-wide password in the hope that spambots won't read it, but we need a long-term solution -- what works best in Elgg to prevent these scumbags from signing up to our sites?
Thanks.

Ok, give me a couple of days to figure out how to configure xrunner to work with elgg.
I've never actually tried to attempt to add an 'unknown entity' being elgg to the mix as the program comes prepopulated with almost every major cms/blog/forum out there.
In case your interested the program I am thinking of here is from http://www.botmasternet.com/index.php
It's pretty much the best of the best.... I'm sure a few here are probably already familiar with xrunner LOL
@Shawn -- I need to move this domain to a different server. I didn't think we'd be using this server yet, but turns out we're going to need it for the Boston conference. By the weekend it should be good to go but I'll give you a nudge here to let you know. I'm really interested in seeing what we can figure out!
