i am running latest elgg. However, adding new fields to the profile via admin does not quite work. Instead, the old fields are no longer visible (for editing or viewing). but the new fields are. Therefore adding new fields replaces old fields as far as the user is concerned. How can I fix this please, so that both old & new fields are available to the user, for editing and viewing?

You must log in to post replies. That's correct. You can replace the existing profile fields with your own only.
It's mean that you need to re-create the existing fields and to add your own new fields
Right. So how do I fix the issue so that adding a field is adding a field, not replacing the entire profile? I am sorry, but being English, with English as my only language, I have a fondness for our words to have correct meaning. I also don't have time to reinvent the wheel.
Use Profile Manager plugin for it.
Thanks RvR! Forgot that was around.
