There has been no luck in finding a plugin/method/code change in allowing flash embedding from all these three in blogs by any user in elg 1.8 +. How would one go about doing that?
I understand allowing flash embedding is dangerous, but I only would like it from these sites.
There are plugins to have soundcloud and/or youtube videos placed on the side, but not INTO a blog. I really would like a user to be able to embed a video or soundcloud file into the blog itself. How could this be done?
Thank you very much for your time and any help would be appreciated.

You must log in to post replies.There are a ton of plugins around to do this. Keep in mind that if a plugin says it's compatible for 1.8, there's a decent chance it'll work in later versions.
If I were to do a simple version from scratch though I would leverage embedly cards - it's stupidly simple to integrate.
eg. http://embed.ly/code?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D7QzsSgxX3fo
Just like Matt said, embedly cards is the way to go. Take a look at this plugin:

Need Embedding in blogs, comment, pages, discussion, messageboard from only Youtube

@Polycarpe MAKOMBO
This is close to what I am looking for, but did not work. This required 'Cash's Video' Plugin, which I have... perhaps I installed the incorrect one
htmLawed
I believe what I need is allowing htmLawed to allow javascript only from certain sites. In my case, Youtube, vimeo, and soundcloud.
How would that be done?
Thank you everyone for your help! It is much appreciated
You should abstain from modifying htmlawed rules, you will be exposing yourselves to security risks. Look for oEmbed solutions, alternatively check out hypeScraper on github.
@Josh Levine
Here is a plugin that allows you to insert video link Youtube.com, Vimeo.com and video FaceBook in the BLOG, THEWIRE, BOOKMARKS, PAGES, FILES, DISCUSSION, COMMENT and others in the plugin configuration.
The plugin link: https://community.elgg.org/plugins/384562
I see that it will work.
