Hello Elgg gurus,
This is a newbie question but I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.
Is there any quick start doc or tutorial(s) describing how to have elgg plugin project in Netbeans?
I would like to have a pointer as a development starter with Netbeans such as how to link existing running project and develop a new plugin from scratch.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sat

You must log in to post replies.I don't use Netbeans since I feel like it's too cluttered. Have a try at Sublime Text 2: http://www.sublimetext.com
Here's the documentation for Elgg: http://learn.elgg.org/en/1.11/ and it comes with tutorials.

Oh, is it?
I thought Netbeans was a proven and a popular IDE choice as 'Elgg 1.8 Social Networking' (http://amzn.com/1849511306), which I'm reading through, is recommending it with the PHP extension... :<
I haven't read that book but It's up to your preference really.
Plenty of Elgg developers use Netbeans. There are lots of editors you can use, but Netbeans has good php syntax highlighting, code completion, refactoring, remote deployment support, and remote debugging support. It comes down to personal choice, familiarity, and support for your workflow.
That said, I don't know of a bootstrapping document for Elgg specifically, but any php/netbeans bootstrap process should work fine for Elgg development.
I use netbeans all the time, typically I tend to have the whole core loaded as the project, that way I can jump from plugin to plugin in the same project space, and netbeans can parse the phpdocs and give you all that useful autocomplete information etc.
