The plugin is called Helpr, which is a bunch of features at your command to enable. I'll be integrating my other plugins into here as well so it'll make my other plugins obsolete. Some of the plugins that are going to integrated, so far, are:

I wouldn't let the users put whatever url as the source since it could be malicious. The <script> will be hard coded in the shortcode function.
That is what I mean, it would be hard coded just as it is with the shortcode.
Say I enter the Google map url (normal or short) http://goo.gl/maps/JgPqv (not the actual iframe to embed it from google maps.)
Just as the videos plugin embeds a youtube video from the url, it would encase the google map url in the shortcode so it would become
[googlemap width="400" height="300" src="http://goo.gl/maps/JgPqv"]
Yep, just like the YouTube shortcode I made where you enter the URL and the code strips the source, keeping the characters after watch?v= in the URL.
Exactly. You might get the trophy for smallest plugin.
If it did both youtube videos and google maps you would solve the problem for this one as well.
If you don't mind me asking, I'm curious as to what shortcodes you added?
It's really easy to add if you think about it, I've also added Instagram embed, Vimeo, and Facebook videos. No size needed since it's responsive.
I don't think Google maps would be too hard.
I've heard of Instagram, never used it. I looked at Vimeo. I'm on Facebook but not a lot. I use Gerard's Videos plugin which adds videos from Youtube, Vimeo, facebook so don't need those.
Instagram is huge here in America, it was bought by Facebook too.
Completely off topic here, I'm going to Ohio in May and to NC and TN in June, where are you located in the U.S?
The left coast aka California.
By the way here's an update to the plugin, enable social sharing icons in blog post:
