I offer to build a community site for a company for a small fee. But they come with their lawyer who ask about "who own software". They are old fashion people. They want me sell them also software elgg. How can I sell something not mine is?
My first try to make money from elgg and I hit a lawyer....
I read Elgg licence GPL2 and MIT. I think I can "sell" them elgg. Only I must give them sourcecode with GPL2 and MIT licence explanations. Am I at fault? But the plugins? I dont know. Anybody has "sold" elgg?

You must log in to post replies.Short answer: you can sell your services but you must also give them the source code with the original license.
Can't you just ask the lawyer to check GPL2?
Thank you Juho. That is what I want to do. I want to sell my services. But they want to buy software. I email that lawyer GPL2. Great to bounce ball back to her.
I dont find MIT licence suitable because then I can not give them plugins.
@Selen 9 You can't sell elgg, but you can sell a service/product based on elgg. Tell your lawyer that elgg belongs to the Elgg Foundation (or Thematics Network?) but you can use it following the GPL2 license
