Using Jermome Bakker's Newsletter plugin am unable to send group newsletters. When I go in as a test member and fill out the first form with Title etc, then click save I get an error message saying it can't be saved.
So far as I can tell Newsletter has worked for whole site mailing. A few days ago I sent out our quarterly Newsletter to 166 members. According to the log all members were mailed successfully and it took about 15 minutes. My two test members certainly did receive the Newsletter but I'm beginning to have doubts about the other 164 members.
When using a stand alone mass mailer in the past, there has always been noticeable response from members either through comment emails or increased site activity. This time nothing. Could it be the majority of the emails never got sent despite what the log reports? I used the Send Now option with no scheduled cron.

You must log in to post replies.Well... my guess is that there's a reason why the plugin requirement is Elgg 1.8.15 at minimum. The "trick" suggested at https://community.elgg.org/discussion/view/1878053/newsletter-plugin with modifying manifest.xml to get it enabled on Elgg 1.8.13 won't change this basic requirement and it's to be expected that some things won't fully work on Elgg < 1.8.15.
Correction: The 166 emails were sent out over a period of 13 seconds. Log reads "166 sent - 0 errors".
I now have confirmation from a number of random members that they did indeed receive the newsletter. Too bad it doesn't work for groups but that doesn't matter too much. I'm just so happy we finally have an integrated mass mailer that works so well. An added great feature is that you can send to any number of selected users. Thanks again Jerome.
Well, it works for groups on elgg 1.8.20 here, but initially I also had issues with it requireing the default tinymce and some issues with the php path on our hostgator server. But I don't really see why groups don't work, when the site-newsletter does in your case.
