thanks RvR, will try this plugin... although i see it will only format the timestamps. not sure if this will affect the input/date on the custom field I made. will try though....
Well, for custom input/date convert timestamps to text with:

RvR, I tried copying the date.php but still no change... the input/date brings up the calendar and then returns the date as 2014-03-20
Wanted it to show, say March 20, 2014
