Seems with the rise of evergreen browsers and transpilers its becoming a very popular option to author code against future standards and then have a tool convert that to code that can run today. Then at some point you just remove the compile step.

Sounds like AMD just becomes a compile target for the sake of browser compat, but not the authoring format. An interesting strat. A little too complex for Elgg, I think, but interesting.
