I am very confused how to theme elgg. Theming Joomla, Drupal is very easy. Not sure where is the default theme folder?
Any screencast available?
Thanks

I have just the same problem as you. I worked with Drupal and Typolight and indeed theming there is way more easy. Elgg is a very powerful script that brings everything "out of the box" but the design of the script is horrific for a "newbie". I would appreciate a step-by-step instruction how to create a own theme or how to "include elgg in a existing layout". Perhaps someone will bother to write such a how-to.

Oh thanks, I recognized this group a few days ago but I didn't understand why I couldn't see any tutorials - actually you have to be a member of the group (which is to say that you have to make official that you are an idiot^^) to see the guide.
The tutorial is very good, but I have a problem when enabling the Example Theme Framework. Elgg just does not show a theme. I mentioned this problem also here (http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=140701&group_guid=12) but I have no solution found yet.
You have made sure it is visible in your mod directory?
Jap, it is. But as I sayed, this problem is already discussed here: http://community.elgg.org/mod/groups/topicposts.php?topic=140701&group_guid=12
The example theme looks just like the original theme, if memory serves. It won't look any different til you change it, if I'm remembering correctly...
Thats correct - it is exactly the same and you have to make some changes to it to see any difference.
