The action file for login was not found

Hey I uploaded to a hosting and when I try to log appears: The action is log file was not found, and when I click register, or "forgot password" does not open anything. Help please.

  • i put in elgg server? you may need to explain again with a better understandable explanation : ) i had this prob before the fix is some where on elgg search for login problem forgot password not workng

  • Make sure the login.php file exists under root/actions folder. If not, download a new version of Elgg and upload it to your server.

  • Make sure rewrite rules are enabled in the directory where elgg is installed and that you have elgg's .htaccess file there

    http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/Mod_rewrite_test

  • What's the elgg version? Did you install any third party plugin? Did you do any modification to the code?

    Does your site have an .htaccess?

    Hostinger, free version?  if so, keep in mind they are limitations

    hence all of the above might apply ;)

    .htaccess? rewrite rules enabled? db? yes, db issue!

  • My db are normal, configured.

    I did nothing in htaaccess, he's like:

    # Elgg htaccess directives

    <Files "htaccess_dist">
    order allow,deny
    deny from all
    </Files>

    # Don't allow listing directories
    Options -Indexes

    # Follow symbolic links
    Options +FollowSymLinks

    # Default handler
    DirectoryIndex index.php

  • Either it's mod_rewrite that is not running or the AllowOverride parameter is not set to "All". These are settings to be made in the server configurations. On a free hoster you will most likely not be able to change anything there. So, if the hoster does not support mod_rewrite or if it's not correctly configured as Elgg requires you would need to go to another hoster. Ask the support of your hoster about the mod_rewrite config.

    In case mod_rewrite is enabled and it still does not work: have you installed Elgg into a subdirectory? In this case you would need to configure the RewriteBase variable in Elgg's .htaccess file accordingly. The comment in .htaccess should give you some idea what RewriteBase should be set to.
