I used the search bar on right of page but found nothing about this in previous posts.
The wire > twitter api link was working. Items posted to the wire got sent to twitter as an update via the custom application.
This stopped working. Nothing changed in the setup or configuration, they had not been touched.
In diagnosis & attempts to fix, I removed my authorization in elgg, and twitter, and tried to re-auth, after logging in to both twitter and elgg in the browser. I get two errors:
Unable to authorize Twitter
You need to login to view this content or the content has been removed or you do not have permission to view it
I logged into dev.twitter.com, nothing has changed there, app still listed, read & write support. The consumer Key & Consumer Secret match what is in the twitter api settings page in elgg administration.

Neither one of this links you provided in 2nd post apply to this situation
Deactivate OAuth API and upgrade Twitter API
Which elgg version? Which Twitter API plugin are you using?

rvr:Deactivating oauth did not fix issue. Your link is to your github, not to an official elgg.org plugin
rjc: version is in posts above yours, default twitter_api from core dev
Twitter no longer supports version 1.0 of their Twitter api. Therefore, Elgg 1.8.15 made some changes in the twitter_api plugin as explained here: http://blog.elgg.org/pg/blog/cash/read/227/elgg-1815-released. You would need to upgrade to Elgg 1.8.15 at least to use the updated twitter api support in Elgg. Also, you would need to remove the bundled plugins that are no longer supported ("oauth_api" and "twitter"). But I think the feature to publish wire postings from your Elgg site directly on Twitter does not work anymore at all due to the new terms and API of Twitter. Most likely the only feature that is still supported is registering an account with Twitter account credentials.
wow, if true, that sucks. The social media software, elgg, can not integrate with Twitter
Can you or someone else confirm that elgg no longer integrates with twitter? It is not worth updating/using if that is the case
@ɥɔuıɹƃ lɐʇıƃıp You're wrong. Elgg works with Twitter' integration very well.
You need to upgrade your Elgg version or/and Twitter API plugin.
See on my profile page -- you may see that my tweets was posted via weborganiZm based on Elgg:
Okay, I just read the announcement made on the release of Elgg 1.8.15 again and my former statement was not entirely correct. Before Elgg 1.8.15 there were 3 features in connection with Twitter available on Elgg sites implemented by core plugins: showing your Twitter posts in a widget on an Elgg site, registering on an Elgg site using your Twitter account and making your wire posting to be shown also in your Twitter feed.
The first feature (twitter widget) has been removed due to changes of terms of use by Twitter. Therefore, the twitter widget has been removed from Elgg 1.8.15 and later.
The other two features should be still available on Elgg sites using the twitter_api plugin. You only need to use the new version that came with Elgg 1.8.15 because Twitter retired their old API and you wouldn't be able to authenticate your site anymore using the old version of the twitter_api plugin.
