here in america, you can get a vps for $7/month with 2 gig ram. 

i just chatted with them and checked them out on google etc they are good am going with a2hosting : ) they said it will be fine and they can handle 4 million a month no problem and elgg will be ok and they will support me if i have problems! : )

thanks mike and cim : ) a2hosting will be my choice as i need good support lol they can fix all my mistakes ha ha and its not my money so its ok i dont mind paying more for quality and recommended by elgg answered my own question lol, some very good points made and valuable feedback on this post thankyou everyone for your replys it is very much appreciated! 

@UK Go first with VSP, if things get heavy switch to Dedicated. We need more data, regarding plugins, videos etc. Are you going to host videos or just embed them?

we will be hsoting videos, i dont mind buying a dedicated server its not my money lol, the site will need a good server as it will have millions of visits and will not need any seo at all etc, need a good theme for this site! gonna grab your social docs plugin in the next few days getting downpayment maybe tomorrow : ) send me links of any plugins i may need.

I am a fan of a2hosting, but I wouldn't host a video service with them. If money is not an issue and performance and support are the focus, try http://www.arckcloud.com/
