I installed elgg in a subdirectory, but it is not working. When I try to log in or go to any page I get a 404 or get redirected to homepage.
Any ideas? I know it is on beta but I want to try this version right now

ohhhh i thought that was 1.8.17 or something lol. thanks
Just tested making fresh install in subdirectory (/elgg19/) on latest master and it works fine for me on Apache 2.2.21.
@rjcalifornia Do you pass second step of installation when setting "RewriteBase /preview/", or do you get "The rewrite test failed (...)" error? What webserver, OS, PHP version?
You shouldn't use 1.8 htaccess, that's what "Update .htaccess to remove pagehandler" error is about. In 1.9 we have changed routing system to use front controller pattern (https://github.com/Elgg/Elgg/pull/5698)
1.9 works fine in a sub directory on my XAMP local server. but damn 1.9 looks very promising. i love the aalborg theme too
I am doing something wrong. I don't know why. I made an installation on another domain, same results, clean fresh install of 1.9. It redirects me to homepage when I log in or when I try to access any elgg page.
What's going on?
@Pawel Yest, the second step passes when I set rewriteBase /preview/
I just don't know what to do.
PHP version is 5.4.17
are you running it locally or remote?
