Ads on Elgg

Hi
I am thinking of using ellg to build a social site, however all of the sites i have looked at that use elgg are pretty much advertising free. does elgg not support having advertisements on your page? do they have a plugin or widget to make it easy?

Vazco has a nifty little plugin that is quite similar to what you are speaking of:
