I think Elgg is pretty powerful at its core. However I think folks could develop more and better themes if there was an easier per say themeing system. For example wordpress, supper easy to write a theme. Maybe an easy theme system could work for elgg?

You must log in to post replies. It *is* super easy to theme elgg, it has the most versatile theming system I've seen. Just because you don't know how doesn't mean it doesn't exist :)
For some maybe it is easy. I would add that even in the documentation for writing a theme is , well lets say confusing.
Maybe a more logical and detailed documentation would best suite designers?
that sounds like a great idea ! let me know when you start with fixing the documentation on elgg theming - i'd like to offer whatever help i can give with my somewhat limited straight designer experience...
There's "theming sandbox" in developers plugin, that shows most important elements and essentially what should be modified to override whole theme. Have a look at it.
Our theming documentation could improve, no doubt.
