Generally if you didn't get an answer it means you asked a question that can't be answered, or asked a question where the answer is so terribly obvious it shouldn't warrant a response.  In this case it's the terribly obvious response.

I suppose i should clarify that I want one that loads on 'every page' of the community.

Elgg was disabled here a while back when we didn't allow chatboxes/shoutboxes (everyone we found using Elgg was using a chatbox/shoutbox with theirs)

 I am well aware of the search button, and have installed all of the chat plugins I can find compatible with 1.8.x

And none of them act as a "Chatbox/shoutbox" on top/bottom of every page. They are all "One page add ons"

So i ask again.

Is there a plugin somewhere for a real time chat box with all users of the site that appears on all pages of the community?

Like those ones you see at the top of forums sometimes.. Like the following image
