My understanding is they will be working on more of the forum type features in Elgg. I've used both MyBB and phpBB both of which are excellent.

If they could pick one, either MyBB or phpBB (whichever would be easiest), and create a plugin to allow them to be integrated into Elgg like CkEditor is that would be really sweet. The developers of the forum software and Elgg might even work together if they felt that such an integration might help both.

The discussion system in Elgg is ok but is very limited to the features of forum software such as the ability to quote text as an example.

There is an old plugin for 1.8 with MyBB but it hasn't been updated.
