email settings

hello there,
i am new to elgg... i am using elgg1.8 in iis7 win 2008 server.... site is running fine but i am not able to send /receive emails as well as notification ( site too) .... i have added phpmailer plugin and used my smtp settings...
can any one help me in this ?

You need to check whether if your server has sending emails capability.
