I just have installed elgg 1.8.8 and runs great.
After testing several plugins I noticed that the Files plugin doesnt work pretty well.
When I upload a file (mp3, image, etc.) it doesnt recognize the file type, it just plublishes all files as documents.
Firstly I though that it was an error in the installation then I install elgg again in other directory with another database etc. just to test this plugin again.
When I tested the plugin uploading new files it does the same thing, so I think that this issue could be a bug.
Does anybody has the same issue? or Could anyone help me to solve this issue?
Cheers

I have noticed the same thing, and if I install a video player, same thing, unrecognised file, I haven't messed with it to much but, hopefully someone can explain what the deal is with it...
@itskim, so that sounds like a bug for me.
Where can we open a ticket or something to solve this issue?
What version of php are you running? I believe 5.2 had crappy mimetype detection.
@Matt Beckett I am using 5.2.17
@insanedb It s not a bug am using same plugin but i dont have any problem... :)
Yeah, I think it is the php version, I was testing another site that Id migrated to this new hosting service (arvixe recomended by elgg) and have the same issue.
Which php version do I need?
Am using php 5.3 +
5.3 is ideal and should solve the mimetype issue
Very kind from you guys, we have detected the solution. Thank you very much
@insanedb
