starting to get a little disillusioned with elgg with all this talk, bad news, core devs MIA, elgg 1.8.9 MIA, elgg 1.9 MIA.........so whats the good news?

My two cents: The code is there and works. If in the near future ELGG could be abandoned, we need just to fork it. Simple.

I miss a lot of direction too. I came from another CMS plataform and a descentralized model works very well in opensource projects. We need moderators, we need core developers, core plugins developers and so on. But this approach demands time and money. I developed for ELGG to fit my personal needs, but I love the plataform and the community.

I think we can ask for a official announcement from ELGG core developers. If everything is fine, good. If ELGG is dying, just fork it and life goes on. But I still believe that we have only a transitory situation.

Appears to be a lack of funding so, reading that tweet. Implementing a paid plugin store on the site would go some way to sorting that out.

The people responsible for elgg.org should at least inform about whats going on. Maybe a new team could be got together. At the moment, its in limbo and the longer its left that way the harder its going to be to recover.
