So, I recently installed elgg in a subdomain on my website (my.website/chat) but, I have to go to "my.website/chat/index.php" to access it. Why can't I go to "my.website/chat/" to access it?
When I go to "my.website/chat" it gives me a 403 error.

This, also.
Check the server logs
Use 'Search' bcz discussed already here.
Ok, dude. I did search with no luck, and I did do the first 2 things on your list.
Turns out, the .htaccess at my root sets the directory index to "home.php" so, it messes it up for elgg. Thanks for reminding me about error logs though! Didn't think to check there.
Forgot To Ask:
So, how can I make it so when you go to "my.website/index.php" it redirects to "my.website/home.html"?
Server name?
Apache
Running PHP v.7.3.20
Apache Web Server Configuration for Web Site Redirection
Apache module mod_rewrite
You can use Routing too.
Ok. I have two files doing what I wanted. home.html and index.php.
index.php:
and home.html has my homepage code. Basically, when you go to my.domain it opens index.php. Which, in turn, redirects to home.html.
Please contact your hosting support, or use Google if you don't understand how to configure Apache server.
