I tried to update the about page and now my site looks like a skeleton.
Can anyone tell me how to fix it please?
Update*
My host says I turned on SSL somehow... How do I turn it back off?

Why not? It's a better way than finding out where you got it wrong.
Ok... thanks for your help
OK, Site broke again... Here's what happened.
I deleted the installation of elgg. deleted all the cache files left over...
Resinstalled everything and it worked good. ...and then it broke again.
It broke when I Activated all Plugins.
1 - Did you remove old database before fresh installation?
2 - Can you deactivate all plugins and check your site again? (Don't forget to run 'Flash the caches').
3 - Do you have access to the server logs?
I did remove old databases.
I can't deactivate plugins from administration because I already deleted and reinstalled again. (Installatron = easiest fix for me)
I'm sure I have access to server logs but I don't know how to access them. I use godaddy.
So don't use 'Activate all plugins' but activate each plugin step-by-step.
Ask your hosting then check your last errors in these logs.
OK, so I fixed the site ...again.
I decided I was going to break it on purpose so I started to install the plugins one by one to see which one is breaking my site.
The first one that I installed (Front Page Demo) broke the site and I had to reinstall again.
No need to reinstall Elgg more. Just deactivate this plugin and continue to activate others.
We'll return to problem plugin(s) later ;)
I can't figure out how to deactivate a plugin once my site it broken. It just gets too confusing after that.
Broke it again... I flushed the caches and it broke.
