You must log in to post replies.it is easy to automatically backup your site with a bash script and cron and just as easy to restore..read the elgg documentation and it is in there

That Backup Tool is not working with Elgg 2.3.# I found out some time ago..it seems to backup files but will not restore or at least I was not able to restore from those files either through the plugin or unpacking them to their respective directories via ssh. I believe permissions are lost in the making but not sure. just use a bash and cron to make good backups that work. Maybe someone will update it in future.
@Herb can you paste the code for bash and cron commands and steps to follow the elgg documentation explains steps only high level i think if you have working example of code that works to take backup could you please consider pasting it same so i can follow same example. thanks
the docs are clear enough I believe I can't really add anything as the cron and bash input would change to adapt to your site
