Don't do it. You can do almost everything via plugin.

@ismayl : okay thanks, :)
i remember i edited some file in the core , maybe just little changed and not important (for example: change '<h3>' to '<h2>') . should i change it back to normal before update it ,to avoid the crash? , or just update it directly ?
I won't crash, but you'll lose all your changes.
Why would you want to do that? Better would be just to:
Because sometime i'm too lazy to make new file just for doing a little change haha
So the worst is I will lose all my changes ? Is there other possibility ?
You can fork the project and put all your commits on your own git branch. That allows you to merge Elgg changes ("upstream") changes into yours. You'll need some specialized help to get started though since you didn't start this way.
Stop being lazy. Read the documentation. Do a search in the community discussions. That will save you and all of us some time.
okay i'm wrong , so can someone answer my question :
If you upgrade, which overwrites files, you will lose changes in those files. We have no way of knowing what impact that will have on your site.
Other possibilities: Don't upgrade until you move your changes into a plugin. Or commit your changes into a separate git branch you will maintain.
