I need advice on what it entails to change the prefix of my elgg database, now that the site is being migrated to a new server.

You must log in to post replies.Actualing I meant changing "database name"
You just need to change the corresponding database name in the settings.php file
What about the backup copy, "Prefix_database.sql" that I have uploaded to the new server. Can I just change the "prefix" of the name?
The DB name might appear in a "use" statement near the top of the SQL file.
How do I locate the files having the USE statement?
@ Matt Beckett and Steve Clay :I allowed an "elgg_" prefix for the database while installing the first version .What if i want to disable or remove the "elgg_" prefix to database name?
Change the database name in mysql - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/67093/how-do-i-quickly-rename-a-mysql-database-change-schema-name
Then change the database name in the settings.php
Thanks Matt Beckett, the site is back on but the search field is distorted, and some graphics not showing well. Should this be a new thread?
Flush caches and check error logs. tail -f /var/log/apache2/error_log for example.
@Steve Clay: Is the path within elgg script?
