Hello friends, sorry for my not so good english, but i have a major problem.
for 2 days and after i sent to some friendly big greek sites an invitation for my new elgg community ,my elgg site because of trafic almost died.
this is what i get from control panel and what i send that moment to my hosting support
"i have 8 users online and i see to control panel this
CPU Usage
92 / 100 %
Entry Processes
22 / 22
is this normal with only 8 users?"
and this is the answer from the staff
"Hi there,
Unfortunately it depends, having 8 users can still use the entire CPU / Processes if the script permits it.
public_html/elgg/index.php
This is the throttled script causing this issue. You should check , optimize / disable access until you can fix the issue.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do for you."
So i want to ask you
a)is this normal?
b)is there any way to optimize scripts as the hosting service say to me?
c)any other ideas?

Yes, that's normal if you are on a shared hosting. What's the actual CPU in Gb that is being used up?
@Ismayil Kharedinov this the hosting pack that i have
what can i do?
its possible to optimize something from elgg?
First thing that might want to do is upgrade your hosting account to one that has more resources.
Another alternative would be using the following plugins:
Minify, lazy load, or galliCache
However, you will see a small impact.
thanks @RJ i try one of the plugins until i made to get a bigger hosting pack!everything its about money...
If you are having only a problem with elgg pages like index.php or for some reason with few users like less than 100 users online and your site is consuming more resources than normal, then your site might be getting hammered by search engines and even some bad computer script robots trying to spam your site.
Try this plugin and see how your CPU usage goes... https://elgg.org/plugins/1488356

Thanks a lot @tom!!!
I'd go with better hosting or upgrade to a VPS.
hi @tom just try the plugin that you told me,i i refresh the page with f5 but the site died because overload and the plugin not work....
i use elgg 1.11 what you think?
@πwανος, I have not tested the elgg hammer with elgg version 1.9 and above. I will try to upgrade it when I get time. Sorry to hear that it is giving error messages, I have been busy lately...
