I try upgrade from elgg 1.9.8 to 1.10.5.
I copy elgg files (new directory, no overewrite). I updated htaccess and settings files.
I run upgrade.php and I get:
Elgg cannot connect to itself to test rewrite rules properly. Check that curl is working and there are no IP restrictions preventing localhost connections.
Curl is enabled. I have php 5.4.x
How can I check "there are no IP restrictions preventing localhost connections."?
Any ideas? Thanks.

You must log in to post replies.Ok, it is hard to follow
Did you try to upgrade or copied elgg files to a new directory?
Did you follow these steps?
http://learn.elgg.org/en/1.11/admin/upgrading.html
Thanks RJ.
I have upgraded but when I copy the 1.10 files, I copied them to a new directory. I did not overwrite 1.9 files (as required by http://learn.elgg.org/en/1.11/admin/upgrading.html)
I believe I followed the instreuctions correct...
@inca What about paths and entires in your DB?
Hello @RvR. No change in paths and entries because no change in locations. I first modify elgg source directory to "site_19_8". Then create a new dir with elgg 1.10.5: "site". Then update settings htaccess....
what else?
It's mean that you changed Elgg path:
No No.
original site is : /var/www/site
Elgg documantatision say "1.10 no overwrite on 1.9".
So I change name of directory to: /var/www/site_1_9_8
Then I create a new directory with 1.10.5: /var/www/site (so same as original name)
Then I make settings htaccess changes.
OK. Maybe, wrong the write permissions on /var/www/site ?
Usually:
BTW, I've this error 'Elgg cannot connect to itself to test rewrite rules properly' too when try to update from Elgg 1.10 to 1.11.
I'm using nginx and caching. I've solved this issue by removing the whole nginx cache only.
Maybe! I will try it!
I try it and other things. Computer says no. Same error "Elgg cannot connect".
Interesting you same error when upgrade Elgg 1.10 to 1.11. Pitty I cannot remove Apache cacha I am on shared host.
Other ideas?
OK. I missed it if it in upgrade guide was: copy .htaccess from this new place install/config to root.
